On August 02-03, 2014, the first stage of 2nd lifting of NSC Arch’s Western part was performed.
The second lifting consists of two stages. The first one is the lifting of three Arch’s segments, crane-runway beams for the main cranes system, and metal structures of west end wall for 33 meters. The second one is the lowering for 1 meter with the load transfer onto the stopping devices. This operation will be performed following the assembling of another two segments of the Arch. The second stage is planned to be finished at the end of August 2014
The Arch’s weight at the first stage of lifting is 8,352 tons. The Arch’s weight upon the finishing the second stage of lifting will be 10,594 tons.
It is to remind you that the first lifting of the Arch’s Western part for 22 meters was performed on April 26-27, 2014, while the final one – the third – is planned for the end of 2014 also for 22 meters. The Eastern part of the Arch is at the stand-by area. 12,852 tons of its metal structures were assembled. Works on installing the outer and inner cladding are in progress.
